Joe Layne is a dedicated father, husband, and business owner who is running for Indiana State Senate, District 8 to represent St. Joseph, La Porte, Starke, and Marshall counties.
Born and raised in St. Joseph County, Joe has deep roots in the community. He is an entrepreneur who operates multiple businesses locally. As a board member of the St. Joseph County Redevelopment Commission, Joe has actively helped shape the county’s development. He is a firm believer in traditional conservative values and actively promotes them, recognizing the importance of protecting Hoosier small businesses, manufacturing and family farms.
Joe is a devoted family man, married for 36 years to his high school sweetheart, Danielle. They have four children and twelve grandchildren. He initiated an annual First Responders Appreciation Cookout, starting in 2020, to show support for local first responders, understanding the crucial role they play in keeping our community safe. With two sons having served in the Marine Corps, Joe strongly advocates for the military and their families, ensuring they receive the respect and support they deserve.
An active member of Radiant Church Michiana, Joe’s faith is an integral part of his life, anchoring his values and decisions. His Christian beliefs guide him in his quest to protect the sanctity of life, advocating for the unborn. Furthermore, Joe firmly believes in upholding the Second Amendment rights of Hoosiers, defending our right to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
Joe is a strong proponent of state rights and a limited federal government, firmly believing in empowering communities to make decisions that best serve their needs. He understands the importance of local and community power, emphasizing the need for a limited state and federal government’s involvement and supporting deregulation and cutting red tape to foster economic growth and individual liberty.
Education is a priority for Joe, and he supports a range of educational options. He advocates for private, Christian education, charter schools and homeschooling. Recognizing that parents should have the freedom to choose the educational path that aligns with their values and meets their children’s needs, Joe believes that parents should have control of their tax dollars and that the funding should follow the child.
